Installing on many devices vs streaming on several
Two separate ideas that get treated as one.
Installing means entering your details into a player. You can do this on as many devices as you like — the living room television, the bedroom set, your phone, a laptop. There is no registration limit and nothing to deactivate when you move between them.
Streaming means actually playing something. That is what the limit applies to. A one-device plan means one stream running at any moment.
So in practice: set it up everywhere, watch in one place at a time. Watching on the television in the evening and the tablet in bed is completely fine. Both at once is not.
What happens if you exceed the limit
It varies by setup, but you will typically see one of these:
- The second device fails to start playback, or shows a connection error.
- The first stream stops when the second begins.
- Both behave erratically, stuttering or dropping repeatedly.
That last one is worth flagging, because it looks exactly like a fault. If your television keeps dropping out and nothing you try helps, check whether someone else in the house has a player open. It is a surprisingly common explanation, and it also appears as a player that keeps logging you out.
Working out what your household needs
| Situation | Streams needed |
|---|---|
| One person, or everyone watches together | 1 |
| Couple who sometimes watch separately | 2 |
| Family with children watching independently | 2–3 |
| Sport in the lounge, something else elsewhere | 2 |
Be honest rather than cautious here. Plenty of households genuinely only ever watch one thing at a time and pay for capacity they never use. Equally, if two televisions regularly run in the evening, a single stream will be a constant irritation.
Our listed plans cover one stream. If you need two, message us and we will quote for it rather than leaving you to buy two separate plans and hope they work together.
Bandwidth for more than one stream
Concurrent streams multiply the bandwidth requirement. Two HD streams need roughly twice what one needs, and two 4K streams considerably more.
As a rough guide, budget about 15 Mbps per HD stream and 25 Mbps per 4K stream, with headroom. A household running two 4K streams alongside normal internet use wants a connection comfortably above 60 Mbps — and, more importantly, wants those televisions wired rather than competing for the same Wi-Fi. See internet speed for IPTV.
Do not share your login
A word on the obvious temptation. Because installation is unlimited, it is technically easy to pass your details to a friend. Two reasons not to.
The practical one: they consume your stream. Your television drops out at the worst moment and you spend an evening troubleshooting a problem that is not a fault. The other is that sharing or reselling credentials breaches our terms of service and can result in suspension without a refund.
If someone in your household needs their own access, ask us for a proper quote — it is cheaper than the argument.
Frequently asked questions
How many devices can I use with one IPTV subscription?
You can install your details on as many devices as you like. The limit applies to simultaneous streaming: a one-device plan allows one stream at a time. Watching on the television one evening and a tablet the next is entirely fine.
What happens if two people watch at once on a one-device plan?
Typically the second device fails to start, the first stream stops, or both behave erratically with repeated dropouts. That last symptom looks like a fault, so it is worth checking whether someone else has a player open.
Can I get IPTV for two TVs at the same time?
Yes, but not on a single-device plan. Message us before ordering and we will quote for multi-device access rather than you buying two separate plans.
Is it against the rules to share my IPTV login?
Yes. Sharing or reselling credentials breaches our terms of service and can lead to suspension without a refund. It also means the other person consumes your available stream, which causes dropouts that look like technical faults.
